Car of the Week Winner – Sept 28, 2018

Congrats to Craig Cochran of River Falls, you are this weeks “Car of the Week” winner. Your street legal 70 Camaro/Corvette style Funny Car is one of a kind. We met Craig at the Lakeland Car Show recently.

Thanks for becoming a memeber and sharing your story with our viewers. Craig and his car go back a long time since Craig was the original builder of it in 1971. The body was sourced from Karr Mfg., Monson, MA., a 426″ Chrysler wedge engine and Torqueflite transmission was the chosen powertrain. Titled and licensed in 1974, it was driven until 1979, when it was sold to Tim Buamgartner of Bluffton, Indiana. Tim updated the chassis with a full roll cage and changed to a big block Chevy engine in 2006. In early 2017 Craig was able to locate the car and buy it back. Craig decided to go with a 496″ BBC engine built by Rod Flood, Cedar Machine Service located in North Branch MN in 2018 dynoing @ 557 HP with 590 ft-lbs of torque, the car weighs in at just 2,200 lbs. Craig built the car when he was just 26 years old, and is now 73, having just finished the rebuild, this is truly an amazing journey.
